¶ First check
First check is needed after the very first unpacking. It consists from box content check after the first box opening and essential security checks to get information about overall box state. Note that all boxes were on the transport for more than one year an it's potentially dangerous to use them without serious control.
Note: it's recommended to apply essential security checks on annualy base
¶ Box content check
- 1x multimeter with cables (palettes 1 to 3 for Kano have multimeters in separate load on palettes 4 and 5)
- 1x 9V battery for mutlimeter
- 1x car transmitter (optionally)
- 1x key for battery screws
- 1x key for SMA antenna
- 1x screwdriver
- 1x bag witch N to SMA plug and TFT touch pen
- 1x magnetic GSM antenna with SMA plug
- 1x magnetic FM antenna telescopic with SMA plug

¶ Essential security checks
Following procedures must be performed after BB3 is unpacked and before it goes configurated. If not, there is a risk of fire or explosion in case of charging/discharging pending. This action allows:
¶ Mechanical integrity check observation
- Check for visible damage or visible fluid penetration into the box
- Check FAN grid and dust protectors if they presented on a place. There should be one dust protector on each side and one grid fan protector on a back side of the BB3
- When open the BB3 box, check if all parts are on it's place and all shielding are fitted on it's place
- Don't continue with functional tests if You are not sure about BB3 mechanical or electrical conditions. Ask Your head engineer to check this or contact support group
¶ Simply functional tests
- Mainboard functionality test
Follow this sequence to perform basic functionality tests.- switch on DC protection switch
- switch on CP protection switch
- watch service screen until number of detected sensors is displayed, there should be 5 of them
- wait until default (0) service menu appears
- wait a few seconds until system and battery voltage displays. System voltage should be 6.8V to 7.2V and battery voltage 13.0V to 13.3V in this case
- wait cca 30s until all of 5. temperature sensors reads temperature (temperature value changes from 0.0°C to "realistic" value. 6th sensor is not installed, should remain at 0.0°C

- MP3 car transmitter test
You should see that car transmitter inserted in car plug blinks RED - Ventilator test
You should hear FAN's blowing for 5sec after "switch ON" or reboot BB3 - Battery voltage check
Check service display for battery voltage as noted before. If battery voltage is out of limits mentioned, following procedure "Battery cells measure" MUST be applied.
Note: all temperature sensors reads values and then they are averaged for a few seconds by mainboard processor, Sometimes, you have to wait for a few seconds to get exact values especially after boot or changes in a configuration.
¶ Battery cells measure
If battery voltage of new open box is 13.2V at least, this procedure is not necessary but still recommended. You have o start with battery cover opening.
- Removing battery cover
Note that all shields inside the box are metallic and fixed just by pressure and strong magnets. For lids removal you need a bit of patience and skills, but not any tools.

- Battery cells 1 and 4 measure
After shield removal, take a sheet of the paper and pen, paint four cells and measure voltage of each cell. To measure top two cells (1 and 4) is easy because battery plugs are nice accessible. Don't forget to note each cell voltage on a sheet of the paper.

- Battery cells 2 and 3 measure
To measure cells 2 and 3 is a bit tricky because of lack of the space for multimeter tips. You can use one pole of the top cell which is connected by protection fuse to bottom cell, but second pole of bottom cell you must preciously find between battery body and plug cover.

After the measurement, compare each cell voltages. The difference between cells should not be more than 0.05V If is it higher, consult this with support head engineer or in the support group on WhatsApp before you are going to plug this BB to the grid, solar panel or use in field.
Important note:
- avoid short connecting any plug or cable to the metallic BB3 body which is grounded by any tool you are going to use.
- you can use sticky tape to isolate long multimeter pins and prevent short connecting to the ground plate
- don't remove battery cells from the box if is it not necessary! Removing any cell from the box is potentially dangerous and should be provided when you are sure what you doing!
¶ Closing the battery cover
Ensure that all wires (especially car plug wires) are properly connected. Then rise lid a bit, inser car plug into its space, bend the lid a bit and insert it side by side.

¶ Powering/charging from AC wall plug
To charge BB3 from AC wall plug, you will need a "PC power cable" It's a standard AC cable used for PC stations. If you need to charge BB3 from wall plug and don't have one, ask your Head Engineer to get one. AC power can be used either for changing battery and for normal operations. But the most common expected operations is from solar charger. If you are about to use AC plug as the main power for operation, charge battery first (don't transmit unless battery are charged) To get battery fully charged using AC wall plug takes 6hrs est. if battery is fully discharged. As AC power is presented, AC indicator green LED light ON even when protection switch is OFF and BB3 is not charging from this port.
Note: you may use both charging systems (solar and AC) simultaneously. Then, charging time is faster.

After connecting to AC wall plug, You should see that battery voltage increases slowly. Maximum charging voltage is 14,5V. Standby voltage of fully charged battery is around 13.4 ~ 13.6V according to ambient temperature.
Note: If battery voltage drops bellow 10V, BMS disconnects cells from the system so BB3 will not work unless get charged from any source.
